H&M store by Mariscal

c/ Portal de l’Àngel 22
The new shop is housed in an old headquarters office. They respected the building’s original architecture because its vestige of neoclassical architecture from the 19th century. The interior has a second neutral skin in black and white over the old one, creating a new image without blurring the original, that helps showing H&M collections in the best possible way. The dome and the staircase were restored and emphasised with an aluminum sculpture in the shape of a cone.In addition to the interior and furniture design, Estudio Mariscal was responsible for the lighting and its image and communication.

Champañeria Can Paixano

This famous little Champañeria, tucked away in the city’s old sailors’ quarter, boasts an extensive selection of authentic, local cuisine served up with its very own Cava. Notorious for its frenzied atmosphere, the traditional tavern-style tapas bar attracts a good mix of local residents and inner city visitors during its often chaotic lunch and evening hours. An impressive array of meats and cheese greet you as you barge your way in and up to the bar. From there you can order from a wide but simple range of bites which will be with you, accompanied by a glass of bubbly, in a matter of minutes. The frantic and sometimes fiery display from the other side of the bar adds to the mood of a Tapas bar with genuine local charm.

Chupitos

Chupitos (means shots) specializes in creative, over-the-top shots with equally dramatic bar service. Most of the chupitos come with special performances by the bartender, some of which involve the actual bar being set on fire with a blowtorch. Not surprisingly, the house is packed every night with fun-loving young patrons clamoring for service, enjoying the show, and trying not to be set aflame. The space itself is little more than a dark and dingy corridor, with the bar on one side and a huge menu board full of intriguingly named shots on the opposing wall.Owing to the tight space and the dubious cleanliness of the facilities, Chupitos may be best enjoyed as a quick visit before heading on to the bars and clubs on the harbor.

Cerveceria Catalana

Cerveceria Catalana, is known for their wide variety of tapas and their large beer selection. With tapas ranging from fried artichoke to ensaladilla, there is something on the menu for everyone. The décor of the restaurant is a dark wood, with dim lighting; there is also an outdoor terrace open year round for dining. Behind the bar is the endless variety of beer, some imported, others domestic. This noteworthy restaurant is often very crowded and getting a table can sometimes be very difficult..
