Going down the Rambla to Carrer de la Portaferrissa, there is a narrow, hidden street, Carrer de Petritxol, crammed with numerous art galleries, bookshops, chocolate shops and cafeterias.
All along the street the air is filled with the smell of chocolate wafting from the different cafes offering delicious chocolate and traditional xurros, which are sweet fried pastries similar to doughnuts. Carrer del Pedritxol is also home to several art galleries, particularly the Sala Parés, which was one of the first spots in Europe dedicated to art exhibitions and sales.
